Is this a good deal? I sold a Jackson PS-4 Performer and an Ibanez RG270DX and bought an RG 760 so I'm down one guitar. Item number 897814525 Ibanez Roadstar II RG440.

I am trying to determine what this serial number means, I know the guitar is a 98 but whats with the G? G862274 Do you think I should refinish the RG 760 or leave it with the nicks and scratches? This forum is great, I really like it here. I'm also going to research the Roadstars. grad, awesome guitarist) has a 76 Destroyer with the banana headstock. I have never played a Roadstar, only seen pictures. I'm thinking about moving into the Saber series.

I have or have owned three RG series guitars. If you do purchase the guitar, I (among others here) will be glad to help with it's restoration/refurbishing. It is sad to see a nice axe like an RG760 in poor condition. My focus is Roadstars (as if you couldn't tell from my ID) and related series from the 80's. One of the things I love about this forum everybody seems to have a speciality area or time period. It's hard for me(and probably you) to fathom someone not caring for such a sweet axe. The guitar does not look well cared for though. It has the sharkfin inlays and the bound neck, no pickguard and the pups are (n)s/s/h(b) and no RG series or any other distinction on the headstock other than the ibanez logo. Steve it's nice having someone out there who knows about this stuff. If it's a 700 series, it should have shark-tooth inlays and a bound neck. Quite a few RG's of that era had the color matched headstock. The IBZ USA markings, and the Bensalem neck plate are solid evidence for a 1990. Yes, the "F" definitely makes it a Japanese build. Could this guitar be Japan 1990? If so would the headstock be red? or is this a 2000 in which case it most definitely is not a 760? Thank you for your help. I love the RG 760 and am thinking of buying this guitar as a project. But it has the Bensalem metal piece screwed into the neck joint. to me this guitar looks like an RG 760, except is has a red headstock to match the red body.

This is the number I'm trying to track down. The digits represented by the asterisks are sequential production numbers of little or no consequence. And recent models (last couple years) have a new system.

No serial numbers prior to mid-year 1975. There are some other less common formats in the late '80's/early '90's that don't follow this. '75 to '86 the format is Month/Year/Year/**** You could try a search on this site for "serial numbers". Particularly when it was made and whay was the model number? Where can I find out information on serial numbers. Cool Contemporary Electrics (1980s and Later) »
